There are many ways to install a door and this is the method I.

Install door jambs before drywall

. Starting from the top install a wood shim in the gap and another one at the bottom. Stuff it full of insulation and if its less than a quater inch you can caulk it. This tactic works best for extreme cases where the drywall extends out considerably far from the jamb.

Ive made a few test holes and there seems to be solid wood behind it but I dont know if this is just some 24s or if it is a solid piece more appropriate to be exposed as a jamb.
